Thomas Savage [in the white Jersey] towards the front of the pack waiting for the criterium to begin. |
Matt Hagman on the other side of the field waiting for the whistle. |
Wow Thomas looks small - all the better for tucking in and drafting. |
Thomas started out with great field position. Too bad the numerous wrecks during our fifteen lap course shot that to hell. |
Like I said wrecks, even if avoided, can still cause headaches. Here's Thomas playing a little catch up. |
One of the easier corners on this track - we heard from many of the more experienced racers that the course was very smooth but also technical. For the amateur category 5 racers this was of no comfort. Our race had four big wrecks in it. |
This was a tougher turn: the pavement was rough and went immediately into another sharp turn. The field experienced quite a bit of bottlenecking at this area. |
Thomas once again, trying to hold a good position in the line. |

From left to right: Jonathan Black, Thomas Savage, Matt Hagman, and
cycling enthusiast, Noah Lee. |
Jonathan did not race in this event. Conflicts in his schedule prevented him from pre-registering, and when he found out he could do the race the field was already closed. |
Matt did the race, but was sorely out
of shape and couldn't hang with the pack after getting tied up in a crash and eventually
was dropped from the pack a lap or so later. |
